# AI Tuning for Keyword Watchlists

> How OutX's AI tuning builds a prompt watchlist in two phases, re-checks it on a schedule, reports every check, and lets you undo any change it makes.

<Warning>
  **Rolling out.** AI tuning is off by default for every team and is being switched on team by team. While it is off for your team, every endpoint behaves exactly as documented elsewhere and a prompt-mode create never returns `run_id`. Editing `objective` through PUT works either way.
</Warning>

AI tuning is an agent that builds and maintains keyword (LinkedIn) watchlists. It reads the posts a watchlist actually collects and adjusts the objective, the labels and the keywords to match what you asked for.

## What it does

* **Builds prompt watchlists in two phases.** A [prompt-mode create](/docs/api-reference/watchlist/keyword/create#prompt-mode) answers with a `run_id` when AI tuning builds the list. Within seconds the list has a first set of keywords and labeled posts drawn from posts OutX already holds. Within about 2 minutes it has its final objective (written from real posts), labels and keywords. If the final step is not done by the 2 minute mark, the standard generator builds the list instead.
* **Re-checks every watchlist.** It audits each keyword watchlist on a schedule and when a teammate asks for a check in the OutX app (at most one check per watchlist every 6 hours).
* **Reports every check.** Each run stores a report: what it found, what it proposed, and whether the change was applied. Reports open from the watchlist in the OutX app, and are emailed to you only if your team turned report emails on.

## When it may change a watchlist

An audit applies its proposal only when all of these hold; otherwise it only reports:

* the watchlist is opted in to AI optimization (a per-watchlist setting, with a team default, in the OutX app);
* an automatic checker confirms the proposal keeps the watchlist on its goal;
* no person edited the watchlist in the last 7 days (a keyword, label or `objective` edit through the app or the [update endpoint](/docs/api-reference/watchlist/keyword/update) counts);
* its last automatic change is at least 48 hours old.

Every change is saved as a revision of the watchlist. Your own edits always win: the agent never overwrites a change made after its revision.

## Undo

The team owner or a team admin can revert the latest revision from the OutX app. A revert restores the objective, the labels, the exact keyword rows and the labels on every post the revision re-labeled. Only the current revision can be reverted; once anything newer lands, the older one is kept as history. After an automatic change, posts on the watchlist do not expire for 14 days, so a revert in that window has them to restore.
